The Sons of the American Legion- Bill Nenno

The Sons of the American Legion held its monthly meeting Jan 21. In attendance were Deone Harty, Donnie Polstin, Gene Hill, Tillman Smith, Bob Nellis and Bill Nenno.

Membership

As those of you that have not paid their dues probably realize by now, you can no longer get into the post with your old key card.  The only way to get a new key card is to pay your dues.  You can pay your $25 dues to the bartenders or any of the S.A.L officers.  Make sure you tell them whether you will pick your card up at the Post or whether you want it mailed to you.  There are 33 members that have not paid their dues for 2014.  Wait, let me take that back.  You’re always supposed to state things in the positive.  Sixty-nine S.A.L. members have renewed their dues for 2014.  Positive or not, it still means 33 of you have not.  I urge you to do so ASAP.  The political clout of the American Legion, and therefore the combined political clout working to help America’s veterans is a numbers game.  Let your voice be one of the voices in the fugue.

Donations

In January the S.A.L was proud to write a check to American Legion Post #44 for $1000 to help defray costs for the heater/air conditioner.  This is in addition to the $1400 donated to various charities in December of last year.  It is your membership and participation that makes all of this possible.  See membership above. The Sons of the American Legion- Bill Nenno

The Sons of the American Legion did not hold a meeting this month.

Membership

As always this time a year it is membership, membership, membership.  Those members that have not paid their dues will not be able to get into the Post come January 1.  For those of you who are procrastinators I’m out of town and will not be back until January 5.  I am currently in Texas, which as they say is “a whole ‘nuther country”— but don’t worry about me because I do have my passport.  Sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

S.A.L Dinner

Make sure to mark January 5 on your calendars as another of the Deon and Donnie Sunday dinners has been scheduled for that day.  Last I checked it was fried chicken which sounds apropos for a Sunday.
