Rides & Events
This was a fairly active month for Chapter 5:

  • 08/05/2016 The monthly meeting was held at the Post
  • 08/08/16 Ride to Magdalena
  • Chapter 5 satisfied the urge for a Magdalena Burger on Friday and the Riders were accompanied by a frequent guest, Rosemary from Ireland. The group was greeted cordially at the restaurant, where several patrons thanked them for their service. There was live entertainment by Earl Gleason, who sang renditions of old cowboy songs.
  • The ten degrees break in the heat enjoyed in Magdalena was lost on the return. One hundred degrees (plus) found the group drinking tea by the pitcher at The Diner at the exit to the Jornada del Muerto between San Antonio and Elephant Butte. That saved the day when they continued the ride home. Road Captain Duffy indicated the Adobe Cafe east of Deming may be next.
  • 08/09/16 Visitors from post 58 in El Paso
  • On Saturday four Riders from El Paso came to Post 44 for a "meet & greet". Happily that coincided with a Second
  • Saturday breakfast so everything went smoothly. Our guests enjoyed the meal and the Post so much they swore they would come back soon.
  • 08/19/16 Chapter 5 members hosted at the Hamilton Military Museum.
  • 08/21/16 Chapter 5 members rode to the Adobe Deli near Deming for lunch.
