Rides & Events
December and January saw the Riders plan rides to the Pepper Pot in Hatch that were rained out. On the morning of December 4th Chapter 5 members took a few cursory observations of the weather and opted for a “breakfast ride” to El Faro in T or C. About a month later on January 12th the same plan met with a similar result as mother nature seemed determined to keep the motorcycles close to home and Hodges Corner Restaurant became the ride destination.
On December 13th, in between the two aborted efforts to ride to Hatch, Chapter 5 Riders participated with the rest of the “Legion Family” at the annual Luminaria Walk benefitting the Make A Wish Foundation. Although the weather was threatening the event came off very well and the Legion campsite was a popular destination for the crowd. The “Luminaria Walk” was a great success.
January 10 saw several members visit NMSVH along with motorcyclists from Las Cruces, El Paso and Albuquerque.
The ride to the Pepper Pot was finally realized on Saturday the 17th. Chapter 5 members met at Post 44 after the monthly meetings and enjoyed beautiful weather and the much anticipated food. Also we had a distinguished guest, Ms. Rosemary Lynch, visiting from Ireland. She rode with our President; Rosemary loves to ride and is always a welcome addition to the group. The results were so successful a ride was immediately planned to San Antonio for lunch two days later on Monday the 19th .The rally point was again Post 44 and KSU was at 11:30. Once again the weather co-operated and everyone had a good time.
