Commander’s Comment – August, 2013

Hope you all had a great July and are looking forward to the rest of the year.  I’m sure you have all received your notice that it’s time to pay your annual dues.  Everyone paying before the end of September will be entered in an “Early Bird” drawing.  Whoever’s name is drawn will receive a refund of their 2014 dues.  The drawing will be in October and the winner will be notified ASAP.

I’d like to thank everyone who came out and supported the benefit for Wyatt Slanina.  Deone and Donnie put on a great feed and The SAL, along with the Post, presented the family with a healthy donation.

The Second Annual Legion Family Golf Tournament is coming up September 21^st.  There’s limited space, so get your team entered early.  Don’t forget this month’s General Membership meeting on Saturday, August  17^th, at 10:30 a.m.

Happy Independence Day!  Have a great holiday.  Enjoy the fireworks here at the Butte or wherever you are.  Be safe, and be careful.   There are already too many fires ripping through the southwest .

Summer is officially here and a lot of you will be traveling to visit family and friends, or just to see the sights.  Take care and plan well.  We look forward to seeing you when you get back.

I just got back from the Annual Department of  New Mexico Convention in Albuquerque.   I’ll be passing along some of the hi-lites at our next meeting.  The School of Instruction will be in Albuquerque July 27^th and 28^th.  Please contact me for details if you’d like to attend.
