Newsletter – March 2020

Commander – David Thibeau
February was busy. Our Post Adjutant Tom Cleveland worked hard to bring back Pull-Tabs to the Post. A record rain and snow caused several roof leaks which have been repaired. We also had an electrical problem which was fixed by our SAL Commander Gene Hill. We enjoyed the February activities with special thanks to Richard and Linda for their hard work in preparing a delicious Mardi Gras feast.

Remember always, we are the Post 44 Family – Legionnaires, Auxiliary, Sons, and Riders, and we thrive best when we work together to serve our veterans, their families, and our community.

Our next General Membership Meeting is Saturday, March 21st at 10:30 a.m. Nominations for Post officers will close at the end of the March meeting. If you are interested in serving your Post as an officer, please put your name on the Sign-Up Board near the bar at the Post or contact Tom Cleveland or Al Norton.

I would like to thank the post for electing me as the financial officer, with Ellen needing to attend other projects in her life. I’m getting re-advised with the post operations and plan on keeping everyone advised of our financial situation. If you have any questions please direct them to me via email (williamconklin52@yahoo.com) I’ll get you a answer. Thanks for your support.

Wow, it’s February already!

January flew by with the annual soup cook-off and our other regular activities. We also hosted the first ever “I-10/I-25/I-40 American Legion Riders Regional Conference” for about 40 Riders who rode in from Texas and NM. They enjoyed our bar and grill and the atmosphere of our Post. Many thanks to the bartenders and kitchen staff who took such good care of our guests. I heard nothing but positive feedback. They were very impressed with our Post and expressed a keen interest in returning for future events.

February brings back our Super Bowl and Mardi Gras parties. Please support your Post by attending these and all the regular monthly activities. The more folks participating, the more successful the Post will be.
Remember to thank all our volunteers who make these events happen.

Mark your calendar to attend the next General Membership Meeting on Saturday, February 15th at 10:30 a.m.

December was a good month for the Post financially. Our downturn trend reversed in December. The bar had net income over $5000, gaming was up again and we were able to catch up on most of the items we deferred in November. Hopefully this upturn continues throughout the year.
