COMMANDER – Al Norton

We had no meetings in December.

We have had a lot of fun this month. It is the season to be jolly. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

January starts our search for next year’s officers. See you at the next meeting on January 21st @ 10:30.

God Bless American & her Veterans!

Charity & Education:
November Charities: We had $2329.60 from November Gaming Revenues. The recipients were: American Legion Department, $429.10; Veteran’s Memorial, $450.00; Auxiliary Care Packages, $322.80; SCCA Cancer Patient Transport, $250; Geronimo Springs Museum, $250.00; Auxiliary Veteran’s Dinners, $100; Sierra Santas, $200.

Finance Officer- Bob Nellis

The first half of our fiscal year has ended. Revenue for December was up over 20% from 2015 but the six month total was down over $5,000. This was mostly due to a downturn in gaming revenue, however the canteen, pull tabs, and kitchen continue do well.

The new electronic juke box has been installed and customers seem to be pleased with the change. Bob Acre put the old juke box on Craig’s List and after some negotiations it was sold to a local resident for $800. Way to go Bob.

The patio has been given the ok to open by the Liquor Control Board. That means you can enjoy your favorite beverage in the fresh air.

Membership: Tom Cleveland
Remember if you have not paid your 2017 membership as of December 31st, you will not be able to enter on January 1st. New door cards will be issued as of January 1st to everyone holding a 2017 card.

COMMANDER – Al Norton

The golf tournament was a great success again thanks to Linda Nennos and leadership and the group of hard working people who assisted her.

A bunch of good food and fun was had by all who cheered Gene Hill on during the Elephant Days cook off. In the eyes of the American Legion family Gene, you are the winner!

A special thanks goes out to our Major for allowing us to assist her in the 9/11 ceremony.

Our cook trailer is complete, thank you Tommy Pearce, great job!

A new position of lead bartender has been create. Liz Nellis has been selected to fill that position. Thank you Liz for stepping up.

It’s time to start submitting your nominees for the Annual Special awards to be given in January. The winners will be selected at the November executive committee meeting. Please submit written recommendations of why to me for review.
Let’s pray for the men and women serving our great country.

God Bless America

Charity & Education:

Charity for September: Gaming revenues were down for September, thus affecting the amounts donated to the community, but at least were still able to contribute. American Legion Department $558.96, Auxiliary Care Packages $363.15, SCCA Cancer Patient Transportation $250.00, NMSVH Car Show $100.00, Apple Tree Education Center Children’s Harvest Festival $100.00, Hot Springs Cemetery up keep $100.00, T/C Elementary School Kindergarten Pumpkin Patch Trip $200.00, T/C Community Theatre Production Support $100.00

Finance Officer- Bob Nellis
August saw a downturn in revenue but we are still operating in the black. Ongoing expenses such as replenishing the ATM and Pull Tabs are shown as losses but will be profits in the long run.
There will be some unexpected expenses going into September for a new computer, cash register, and bathroom flooring. The cost of these should be offset when the revenue from the golf tournament is distributed.

Activities Committee – Kathy Norton and Linda Amdal
Activities How are ya’ll liking these cooler temps?? Personally, I prefer year round 70’s & 80’s, but I guess we all can’t get what we want!

A big round of applause & thanks to Dave & Martha Theibeau for being selected as volunteers of the month!
