Newsletter – January 2019

Commander – Al Norton
We are off to another good year. January meeting starts the search for the 2019-2020 Officers!

Nominations are accepted January, February and March with the elections at the April General membership meeting. Let’s try hard to have a full slate of officers to step up and help operate our Post.

We still have some unpaid members. We need to get everyone paid up for 2019. Let’s work on getting more people interested in the American Legion.

God Bless our Troops, Veterans & All Americans!

Our Post has donated $38057.47 from January 1st 2018 thru December 31st 2018! We have had the privilege to support our American Legion Department, Auxiliary and many local nonprofit organizations. Here is a summary of these totals!

As we reach the half way point in the Post fiscal year we remain financially well. For the month of November the Post generated $5254.80 in Net Income. As we move into 2019 the Post financial outlook appears to be on track with the first half of the fiscal year with no major expenses expected at this time. The reworking of the front entrance is still in progress but at this time isn’t presenting any unusually large costs. Both the Bar and the kitchen have shown increases in Net Income during the holiday season as expected. Hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!

Happy 2019!!! Time is moving faster and faster. January finds us with some new items on our calendar. On $2 Tuesdays, Char is having both beef and chicken tacos. Then, on the first Wednesday we are having, by request, Bill presenting dancing karaoke after dinner. On Thursdays we are still having our game days along with Bunco. Come on out and join us. We have at least 1 or 2 tables going every week.

Football is going into the playoffs with the first wild card game on Saturday the 5th, and continuing to the Pro Bowl and the on to Super Bowl 53 on February 3.

On Wednesdays we have our usual dinner and dancing, with Dry Creek returning on the 30th.

On the 1st and 3rd Fridays we are having our first Guest KJs for karaoke. Come join the fun.

On Saturday the 19th Sue will provide music for our dancing pleasure at 5:00 p.m. and we will also have a potato bar.

We would love to have our Tuesday Jam sessions again. If you are interested in joining an “Open Jam”, please contact Char.

Our Activities committee meets on the 14th at 1:30 p.m. New faces and ideas are always welcome. Be sure to check the calendars for all the fun events going on and come join us. Any questions, please contact me.

Personal Note: As I got home from the potluck, I realized I had the wrong lid to my 2 ½ qt. crock pot. It has a black handle, but mine has a blue knob. I didn’t mean to swipe it, and if you will contact me, we can swap lids. Thanks much.

Newsletter – December 2018

Ho! Ho! Ho! Its Christmas time. It is not all about jolly ole St. Nick, remember we are celebrating the birthday of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Everyone join us on the 15th for the Post & Employee Christmas Party. Don’t forget to bring a gift to participate in the white elephant gift exchange, this is always lots of fun. Nothing too expensive please.
We don’t have a General Membership meeting in December, our next meeting will be January 19th 2019.

Make sure your membership is renewed for 2019. If you don’t have a 2019 card you can’t get a new door card on January 1st.

A special thanks and prayer for those who are serving, have served and everyone who supports our country.
See ya all next year!

We are in the middle of our second quarter of operation for this fiscal year and continue in the black. The kitchen has significantly improved its bottom line and the bar continues to be a key revenue maker. The Post employee Christmas party is coming up and $200 was allocated for the cost of employee drinks, a small token of gratitude for the hard work and dedication they put in throughout the year. A happy Holiday Season to all of you!

December already? Yes, it is here and we are ready to send the year out with pool, football, games, music, dancing, karaoke and of course parties and food.

Pool tournaments continue on the first and third Sundays and every Friday. Football plays on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays with special prices on food and drinks. Tuesdays showcase $2.00 tacos or $3.00 taco salads plus those $2.00 drinks. Wednesdays feature delicious dinners, live bands and dancing. Thursdays are $2.00 Margaritas and game days with Bunco on the second and fourth and various games on the first and third. Bring your game and join us. Fridays besides the pool, we have the grill and Karaoke. Our monthly breakfast is on the second Saturday morning and come visit our campfire at the Luminaria Walk that evening.

Our Post Christmas party will be on the 15th at 5:00 with a pot luck and white elephant gift exchange. After that Karaoke will begin.

New Year’s Eve will find us celebrating on New York time starting at 6:00 including a pot luck dinner and Karaoke.

Speaking of Karaoke, are you interested in learning how to be a KJ (karaoke jockey)? The Post has purchased our own equipment and need some guest KJs. If you would like to be a star, have some fun and make a little money on a couple of Friday nights a month, see Char. Your Post Needs You.

If you have questions pertaining to any of our activities, feel free to contact me. Our next committee meeting is on the 17th at 1:30p.m. We appreciate new faces and ideas.
