COMMANDER – Roy Lucero – Commander & Newsletter Editor

Happy New Year!! We accomplished a lot in 2012 by working together as an American Legion Family. Let’s continue that cooperative spirit as we move into 2013. Looking forward to seeing all of you at the Post.

Vice Commander – Tom Cleveland

What a great year that just passed. The post has managed to survive the down- trodden economy and finished 2012 in the black. I want to thank all members of the Legion, Sons of the Legion, Legion Riders, and Ladies Auxiliary for their continued support. Without you, we would not be as successful. The employee Christmas Party was a great time. I even got to play Santa, what fun.

I am writing this newsletter article before the Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve get together; and; looking forward to both events. They are always fun. It’s a good way to gather with friends and forget all the hassles that surround us at this time of year.

Sorry for the loss of another good friend and fellow Legion brother last month. Jim “Jimbo” Millsap; he will be missed. This underlines an urgent need for any of us to seek out potential applicants for membership in the Legion Family.

The Activities Committee has scheduled a fun filled month for January. Come out for the Friday afternoon fun pool shoot. Stars about 3pm. It is really a good time.

Finance Officer – Dr. G. Vincent Barrett

The Post continues to do well financially. A small profit was generated for the month of November with overall revenues stable and gaming holding its own. Our reserve position is holding steady and the bar and kitchen continues to do well. The bar, kitchen, gaming and pull tabs as well as special events are performing as we expected for this time of year. Although gaming was down substantially, both the bar and kitchen turned a small profit in the month of November. In the absence of unforeseen financial expenses I expect that we shall continue to stay on a reasonable financial footing through the first quarter of 2013.

Adjutant – Bob Nellis

On January 1, 2013 you’ll need a new key-card for entry into the post and gaming with your paid-up dues.

Activities Committee – Kathy Norton and Linda Amdal)

Hope ya’ll had a wonderful holiday!! Now, let’s cowboy-up & start making plans for a prosperous, productive & eventful 2013!!

Speaking of eventful…There’s a lot on the Post Dance Card for January and February. On Tuesday, January 8th at 1:00 pm, Bob & Liz Nellis will update us on the Post 10th Anniversary Party scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 16th. Tom Pestak is generously assembling a video presentation of 10 years of our photo history and a fish fry is also planned. Following their update, the activities committee will gather to start mapping out events through April. If you have some ideas, please join us!!
