The Veterans Day Car Show/Bake Sale will be on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 9-2:00 p.m. The Auxiliary will be at the bake sale, we hope you’ll stop by and see us and purchase those goodies. All the proceeds from the bake sale stay at the Veterans Home. We appreciate your support.

There are many activities going on for Veterans Day, Monday, November 11: 8:30 a.m. at the TorC Elementary School there will be music, coloring contest winners, several of the Veterans Home residents will be there; 10:00 a.m. Veterans Home ceremonies begin The American Legion will be providing sub sandwiches free for our Veterans
The Auxiliary will be 100 years old on November 10, 2019. We will be hosting a wonderful 100 year celebration with a pot roast dinner, dance and music by Sue Barr, raffle prizes on Saturday, November 16 at 5:00 p.m. Mark your calendars to join us for this great celebration. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend our monthly membership meeting on Saturday, November 16 at 10:30 a.m.

Don’t forget that we have an aluminum can recycle trailer on Hwy 195 by the Amberjack sign.

We collect box tops (please make sure they haven’t expired) & Campbell soup labels for Education, as well as Bullock’s receipts.

It is time to renew your membership for 2020. Early Bird renewal ended September 30, and we drew two winners—JoAnn Gonzales and Leanne Isbell. Congrats to these ladies and thank you for renewing early. As of October 27, we have 192 renewals, 2 transfers, 5 rejoins, and 17 new members (3 of which are Junior members), for a total of 215. If you know someone who is eligible for membership, give them an application or have them contact me. 575-642-6164. Bring them into the Post as your guest and let them see for themselves what a good time we have. Membership is our most important program, and I need everyone’s help to keep it going strong.

Care Packages Marty Novak
We sent 36 Care Packages in October. Thanks to the ROTC and everyone who came to help with the packing. A special thank you to Steph and Joyce who help me with the shopping, to Moe for taking care of recycling the cardboard, and to Tennie who makes up the address labels each month. We couldn’t continue to do this worthy project without the help of all of you.

Thanks to our American Legion Family for the help and support they give us, to the members, non- members, groups, organizations, and business of our community for their monetary donations, memorials and donations of supplies.

If you know of anyone who is deployed, please give us their name and address and we will be happy to send them monthly packages for as long as they are deployed.

Starting with our November packages, we are changing from the Medium Priority Mail boxes to the Large Priority Mail boxes in an effort to save on postage. The Large boxes will hold about 1 1⁄2 times as much as a Medium box and will reduce the number of boxes we send to about half and still provide lots of supplies and goodies to the Troops.

We’ve already started baking and freezing cookies for our December packages. We try to make those boxes Christmassy and special filled with goodies from home along with the salsa and chips. If you plan to make cookies/candy/fudge for the December packages, remember that they are traveling. This means sturdy cookies rather than fragile cut out cookies.

Come join us for our next Care Package packing day, Wednesday. November 13th. We are usually finished setting up and ready to pack by 10:00 and we are usually finished by about 11:00. Anyone is welcome to come help us pack. It’s lots of fun. Come join us.
