Auxiliary Vice President- Linda Nenno
After the last 3 months, March was relatively quiet. We hosted our Veterans for dinner and held our monthly bake sale. We had a good turnout for Bunco both times this month. Come join us on the 2nd Thursday at 1:00 and the 4th Tuesday at noon. We have a great time, and it’s a nice fundraiser for the Auxiliary.
Our “Books for the Schools” program is going great. We have started purchasing books about Veterans, the Wall, Service Dogs, and the Poppy Lady, and reading them at the schools. Then we are donating them to the school libraries. We’ve had more than generous donations from members who have purchased books in memory or in honor of loved ones or friends.
As always, we continue to support Legion activities such as weekly dinners and karaoke. We also helped organize a baby shower for Nichole which was well attended. That is going to be one lucky baby girl. She received a carload of wonderful gifts.
Things to look forward to in April:
April 1—Lasagna Dinner for Veterans
Bunco—April 9, at 1:00 and 28, at noon.
April 15– Please plan to join us at the post to honor Ginny Lucero as Volunteer of the Month. She really works hard for the Auxiliary and the Post.
April 16, 10:30 Executive meeting. Anyone is welcome to attend.
April 18, 10:30 General membership meeting

Care Packages and Cell Phones: Marty Novak
We sent 25 Care Packages in March. Thanks to all who came to help pack. These Care Packages mean so much to the Troops who receive them. Thanks to our American Legion Family for the help and support they give us, to the members, non-members, groups, organizations, and businesses of our community for their monetary donations, memorials, and donations of supplies to help us keep this project going. Thank you all. Thanks to the Girl Scouts who gave us Girl Scout cookies for the packages in March and more cookies for the April packages. They also gave us cans of nuts for the troops a few months ago from their nut sales. Thanks Girl Scouts and leaders for your support of this project. We are working hard to keep this project going. If you can help with any donation, it will be much appreciated.
It’s getting that time of the year when it starts getting really hot over there. Anyone willing to make neck coolers to add to our Care Packages is certainly appreciated. I have the pattern if you need it and also have some of the water storing crystals to go inside the neck cooler. 744-4539 or email novaks@windstream.net

What is a Veteran: A Veteran…whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve…is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to “The United States of America” for an amount of “up to, and including his/her life.” That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today, who no longer understand that act..
