Happy New Year!

Thanks to each and every one of you for helping with the Angel tree, Luminaria walk, dinners, Christmas party, wrapping gifts, care packages, cookie trays, and delivering trays to over 30 local businesses. Without the Legion Family all these events would not happen. Bunco is scheduled for Thursday, January 13th and 27th at 1:30 p.m. at the Post. The Auxiliary is providing the Wednesday night dinner on January 12th, if you are able and would like to help out in the kitchen, please contact me. Nancy Trueblood will be making spaghetti, meatball, and sausage dinner.

Those who would like to correspond with a resident please write a note introducing you and tell a little about yourself. Place it in an envelope with a self-addressed stamped postcard so the resident will be able to respond. You may leave them in my box, I will pick them up and forward to the Veteran’s Home. Our general membership meeting will be January 15, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend.

We will be having an initiation at this meeting, if you have not been initiated and/or are a new member, please call me so we may have the proper amount of information for you.

We donated $300.00 to District 7 for power tools and supplies to Oak Street Residents and $200.00 to Women Veterans at the Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque.

Our next bake sale is Saturday, December 4th; set up is at 9:00 a.m., and sale is from 10:00-2:00 p.m. We will be sending lots of cookies, fudge, and peanut brittle in care packages on December 8th, please have your goodies to the Post no later than Wednesday, Dec. 8th at 10:00 a.m.

The Luminaria walk is scheduled for Saturday, December 11th at EB Lake State Park starting at 4:00 p.m. The State Park is hoping to have about 25 vendors; each vendor has food, hot chocolate, cookies, etc. We’ll be needing lots of pecan pie muffins. The recipe can be found in the Auxiliary cookbook, or contact me for the recipe.

Thanks to all who have picked out an angel, please return your gift(s) no later than Dec. 11th. We will wrap gifts on Tuesday, December 14th at 1:00 p.m. at the Post. The children will be picking up their gifts on December 18th from 11:00-1:00, Santa will be there and we’ll have cookies and juice. Mark your calendars to join us.
