Happy New Year everyone! Thank you, thank you to everyone who baked and baked for cookie trays, pecan pie muffins for the Luminaria Walk and for care packages in December. This amount of baking isn’t possible without all of you volunteering.

Our Veterans from the NMVH will be joining us for dinner on Wednesday, Jan 4th. Sue Barr will be providing the music and entertainment.

We will be having a Celebration of Life for Frank Kapela on Saturday, Jan 14th at 2:00. The Auxiliary is providing the food so please bring a dish to share. We will also be having a Celebration of Life for “Brother Art” Carmona on Saturday, Jan 28th at 2:00. Please bring a snack to share.

We have Bunco on Thursday, Jan 12th and 26th at 1:30 and Cards & Games on Monday, Jan 9th and 23rd at 1:00. Everyone is welcome to join us at the Post. If you have a special game, bring it along and teach us how to play.

Our monthly meeting is Saturday, Jan 21st at 10:30. All members are welcome.

We have lots of opportunities to bake in December: Cookie trays to the businesses in town that support us – assemble and deliver on Thursday, Dec 8 at 10am; pecan pie muffins for the Luminaria Beach Walk on Saturday, Dec 10; cookies to our troops to be packed and mailed on Wednesday, Dec 14 at 10am – package everything in snack-size bags.

Pecan Pie Muffins

1 c brown sugar
2 eggs
2/3 c melted butter (not margarine)
½ c flour
1 c small pecan pieces

Mix all ingredients together. Spray non-stick mini muffin pan. Fill 2/3 full. Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes (mine cook in 12 min) or until brown around the edges. Remove from pan while still warm.

Our Legion Family Christmas Party will be Saturday, Dec 17 starting at 5:00. It’s a potluck and white elephant gift exchange. If you choose to participate in the exchange, please bring a gift for either a male or female and try to keep the amount around $20.
